i just finished watching
the apprentice: martha stewart, wherein the two teams (matchstick and primarius) had to bake a cake to exhibit and sell at a wedding expo. they were both Really beautiful cakes. primarius had a white cake with five tiers of alternating circles and squares. i thought that the white-on-white designs on the cake were especially beautiful. one of the layers had a quilted design! prrrretty. i thought that matchstick's cake was also pretty. it had four tiers of ovals, offset to the back...so it was asymmetrical. then it had a beautiful bouquet of pink flowers topping the cake, and there were textured pink cake ribbons near the bottom of each tier. i think their mistake was in not centering the cake. i think centering makes the cake more classic-looking, even though it's ovular. they also didn't really market the cake well. i guess they were going for this high-end profile, but a lot of people have reservations about pink. they should've sold it so that the pink aspects of the cake (the flowers and the ribbons/bows) could've been altered to suit the color scheme of the clients' weddings. whatever--matchstick lost again (third time), and i'm glad shawn went home. i like the rest of the people in matchstick, and really, there's no one not to like in primarius because they never really talk about them...because they always win. poor matchstick is only five-people big now, while primarius still has eight people.
you know, i have this great shot of a cake from isaac and jenna's wedding. rosie took it. pretty, huh?

speaking of cake, we Finally finished the cake that carolyn (daly) and mike (firestone) brought to our housewarming. it was huge, and ashley and i have been eating a healthy slice a day since (it's been about a week and a half).
gah!!! why do i always get distracted from my work? well, at least i know what i want to talk about...unfortunately, i'm Still behind in my reading...which i am actually finding interesting. time for bed--will finish writing this brief in the morning.
