columbus day is a holiday!

thanks to mr. columbus, we had a holiday on monday. and thank you, harvard, for giving us the day off...even though MIT got today off, too. :P

after a loooong weekend of staying in, i was ready to go out on monday!! i spent friday, saturday, and sunday in my apartment...all alone because ashley and divya went home. wah! no, it was pretty shitty out--it was cold and wet. (i guess fall is really here now, and winter is close at its heels.) at least i got caught up in three of my four classes...not to say that i have even read for this week yet...but i'd say that catching up is a good thing. :]

anyway, on monday, i met with my presentation group early in the morning (10am), so that got me up for the day. then natalie and i went to wrentham. we had a short detour as we got lost, but whatever...we got there. we got there around 2pm and shoped until about 6pm? interestingly enough, natalie and i are very compatible when shopping! we basically wanted to go into the same stores, and she had some opinions about what i should/shouldn't get--which i thought were very sound, and i usually agreed. she's also not really a judger, you know?

so here's an itemized list of what i got. mind you, i resisted several purchases, including a black marc jacobs suit at barney's. so really...i saved a lot of money. :]

1. polo: two skinny polos (lilac and magenta), black v-neck sweater (brrrr...it was so cold that day, i was really looking at practical items for the winter), cream cable-knit gloves (pink horse)
2. aldo: cheap earrings (they didn't have the shoes i wanted in the size i wanted!!! grrr...i don't think there was a real discount there anyway)
3. calvin klein: 3-for-$19 underwear (instead of 3-for-$27), one pair of black pure underwear (100% cotton...it might be my new thing), two black racerback tanks
4. jcrew: two long, scoop-neck tanks; pink corduroy skirt that's sorta pouffy; magenta sash/belt (each item was 9.99)
5. off 5th: marc by marc jacobs top (blue with little flowers and small frill at the bottom--it's a longish shirt...and not appropriate for the winter), tan and white-striped three-quarter sleeved juicy blazer with princess sleeves
6. theory: slinky, low v-neck merino wool sweater in dark grey--also longish (by longish, i mean that it can be pulled over my butt...though i wouldn't Cover my butt)

and that's that!! it was a Really successful trip, as you can see. :]

then i got home...ate half of a spinach pizza for dinner...then jeff invited me out to go to middlesex because phillee was in town! yay. so i was like, i guess i deserve to go out :) there were a bunch of chi phis there: linus, kynam, ken, phillee, terry, jeff, tim lu...and me. and then two girls came with tim lu (friends of friends). one was named charlene! weird. anyway, everybody was buying people drinks...linus got my first drink (cool cucumber martini), jeff paid for my two cranberry-vodkas, and then linus bought a round of shots for everyone when the angels beat the yankees. :] needless to say, i was going to get very drunk (though i didn't feel the full effects until way way later). linus drove me home because i was supposed to have that lovely presentation this morning, even though jeff and kynam were going to go hang out at kynam's apartment. BUT...i got home and in my inbox, bridget had sent an email saying that class today (and therefore, my presentation) was cancelled! she was stuck in denver (where there was a snow storm), and couldn't get any flights into boston until today. so then i walked my drunken self over to jeff's while talking to way on the phone. we just hung out, ate chinese food, and watched two weeks' notice (don't really know what was going on). then i just passed out there.

linus called me this morning to make sure i was up for my presentation...so that was nice of him. then jeff made me instant oatmeal with fresh bananas. then we (jeff, ky, and i) came out to newbury to eat trident cafe, and forrest joined us. now i'm here at espresso royale studying!!

to add to all this, bridget has now shifted everything back a lecture...so we're presenting on thursday. this means that i've already done the reading for thursday, so when rina comes on wednesday night, we can hang out. at the same time, though, becca can't come to lecture on thursday because of yom kippur...so i actually don't know what we're doing about that. but still, this means that our paper is pushed five days back to next next tuesday. yay! this means i'll have a weekend to work on it.

so...it was a very successful weekend, i think. :) yay!

back to studying...
