perceptions

it's incredible how perceptive students can be. we adults are supposed to be teachers and models. when i was in high school, i often admired teachers who seemed to have their lives together—planned, organized, accomplished. well, apparently it is very apparent when a teacher is out of it, dazed and confused, depressed. what do these kids think? they laugh behind our backs.... is it possible to separate their views of our personal lives and still respect the academics who teach in the classroom? not sure i can even do that....
